Dr. Tsai is a specialist in gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He earned his Ph.D. in Translational Medicine in 2021, focusing on glycoimmunology and hepatitis B virus (HBV) research. His discovery of an immune checkpoint receptor for HBV earned him the Wang Ming-Ning Prize for Outstanding Paper.
His research focuses on glyco-immune pathways in IBD and their relationship with gut microbiota, aiming to uncover novel immune mechanisms and therapeutic targets to improve patient outcomes.
Additionally, he promotes advancements in IBD diagnostics, having completed training with the International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS) and obtained certification in intestinal ultrasound. He actively advocates for its adoption in Taiwan to enhance non-invasive disease monitoring and patient care.
