Patients of cervical cancer will sometimes have discharge flowing from the vagina due to the gradual necrosis and detachment of tumor cells after pelvic radiation. To remove the discharge, reduce infection and increase comfort, follow the physician prescription and cooperate with the use of cleaning device.
Depending on the amount of discharge or following the instruction by medical staff for use, it is generally advised to use the device once a day, anytime of the day. It is best to use during bath.
Applications
- Wash the cleaning device.
- Boil the water, allow the water to cool to lukewarm temperature and test the temperature with the inner wrist. Pour 500c.c. of water into the cleaning device.
- Connect the head of the cleaning device and place the tip into the vagina. The front tip can be inserted for about 10cm ( 3 ~ 4 inches ).
- In the bathroom, sit on the toilette and chair, lean the body to the side ( left or right ) to begin cleaning ( rinsing and flowing at the same time ). The cleaning effect is more through this way.
Precautions
- To use, dampen the front end with water for easy insertion to the vagina. For narrower vagina, coat the front of the cleaning device with some water-soluble lubricant for easy cleaning.
- Clean used device with water and some detergent. Allow it to air dry and store in the bag without boiling for disinfection.
- Pay attention to the storage of cleaning device where children could not access.
- Routinely return to the hospital for the physician to evaluate for the continuous use.
- In case of bleeding during use, suspend the use and return to the hospital for medical treatment.
