Jinchuang ointment is a special formula for traumatology, processed and proportioned using several valuable Chinese herbal medicines, including Sanguis Draconis and frankincense. The ointment is an external application especially for the treatment of wounds that do not heal easily. Particularly, the ointment offers good and instant effect on bed sores, diabetic ulcers, ulcer (chronic leg ulcer) as well as other unhealable wounds.
Pharmacological Effect of Jinchuang Ointment
The main effect of Jinchuang Ointment removes slough and produces new skin, which not only inhibits bacterial growth but also boosts angiogenesis, speeds up the growth of granulation tissue and prompts wound closing and healing.
Indications of Jinchuang Ointment
- Various chronic skin ulcer, leaking and difficult closing such as ulcers.
- Diabetes ulcer, particularly most commonly seen on the toes of lower limbs.
- Bed sores – bedridden patients requiring long-term care are often troubled by bed sores.
- Partial bruises and burns on the skin.
- Partial skin damage caused by other injuries.
Applications of Jinchuang Ointment
- Clean the wound thoroughly with 75% alcohol or pure water (or apply debridement).
- Spread Jinchuang ointment evenly on sterilized gauze with a thin layer of approximately 2 mm.
- Cut gauze coated with Jinchuang Ointment into the same size of area as the wound surface; paste on and attach closely with the surface.
- Completely seal the gauze on the wound surface with sterilized paper tape.
- Change the dressing every day, or the patient may increase the number of dressings under excessive exudate, depending on the situation.
- Re-clean the wound thoroughly with 75% alcohol or pure water especially residual ointment when changing the dressing.
- Patients with edema will need to eat less edible salt while patients with asthma and allergic skin should not eat lambs, eff, fish, shrimp, crabs, and other seafood.
Precautions
- Use Jinchuang Ointment under the instructions of doctors.
- Patient can take a bath to keep wound cleaning if he/she or family can take care of the wound. After taking a bath, keep the wound dry.
- Patients should inform doctors in advance if they have diabetes. Patients with other severe internal medicinal diseases should pay attention to and control the disease condition at all times.
- Avoid standing for a long time, traveling on foot or doing mountain climbing when the wound takes place on the lower limb to avoid deterioration of disease condition.
- Patients with bed sore should cooperate fully with bedside nursing, flipping over, proper padding, and slipping on air cushion bed, in order to prevent bed ulcer deterioration or regeneration.
- Keep adequate nutrition.
- Patients are required to return for medical examination regularly.
