Post-Treatment Precautions
- The application hours for external wet dressing patch in general lasts between 6~8 hours and the patient may shorten the application hours depending on the situation, in case of skin allergy, rash or itchiness. The average application hour for dry patch is 4~6 hours and may be omitted or reduced if the patient has skin allergy.
- Chronic and degenerative patients requiring long-term treatment shall apply 2~3 times a week. Patients with critical illness must comply with doctor instructions for medical visits.
- If the patient still perceives sore, numb, swollen, and pain after removing the needle, this is known as residual acupuncture feeling and patients do not need to panic. Just massage the affected area or apply warm compress for alleviation.
- In case of minor subcutaneous hemorrhage and bruises due to removal of the needle, this is the result of pricking dense capillaries. It is best to compress the area and stop hemorrhage. Apply cold compress in 24 hours and warm compress in another 24 hours to help absorption.
- The patient may take a shower and wash hair in 10 ~ 20 minutes after treatment.
- Diet Instruction:
Patients with torn ligament should avoid eating banana, bamboo shoots, peanuts, cold and stimulating food such as cigarettes, wine, betel nut, coffee, iced drinks, or food that is too sour or spicy.
Precautions for Special Cases
- High-risk and more severe patients, such as patients susceptible to bleeding (hemophilia and taking anticoagulant) must remind the doctor and nurses before the pricking. Diabetes patients must eat before needle pricking to avoid fainting during acupuncture treatment and low blood sugar (cold sweat, trembling and anxiety).
- Patients with disability (bone fracture, cerebrovascular accident, senior, and cerebral palsy) may press the help button in case of any discomfort during the treatment and the nurses will handle immediately.
