Evaluation of Living Kidney Transplant Donors and Surgical Procedures 活體腎臟移植捐贈者評估及手術流程

2024/1/2

Preliminary Evaluation at the Nephrology Clinic

  • Fill in the basic information.
  • Evaluation by the attending physician at the nephrology clinic.
  • Physical examination (including abdomen, groin, peripheral blood vessels).
  • Issue relevant laboratory testing sheets.
  • Complete all evaluations and examinations and transfer them to the urology clinic.

Stage 2 Evaluation at the Urology Clinic

  • Computerized tomography and nuclear medicine renal function examination.
  • A living kidney donation consent form and instructions are offered.

Stage 3 Evaluation at the Psychiatric Clinic (Donors)

  • Return the certificate of kinship:
  • Household registration transcript of the donor
  • Household registration transcript of the recipient
  • Complete the "Living Kidney Donation Consent Form" and attach the copies of household registration transcripts of two relatives no more than fifth degree of kinship as witnesses.
  • Arrange social workers and psychiatrists to conduct social, psychological and psychiatric assessments of donors (joint assessment at the psychiatric clinic on the 5th floor of the Mede Building).

The Information is Submitted to the Medical Ethics Committee for Review

The qualifications of living kidney donors are stipulated in Article 8 of the Human Organ Transplant Act:

  • The donation motivation is purely for "voluntary organ donation," and there is no financial and family pressure.
  1. The donor should be aged 20 or above and restricted to no more than fifth degree of kinship
  2. The spouse should have been married to the donor for at least two years or have children with the donor. However, the above does not apply to those who are diagnosed as having indications for transplant by a physician after being married for one year.
  • Donor data (psychological, social, medical evaluation results) are submitted to the medical ethics committee for review.

Preoperative Meeting

  • Nephrology and urology departments hold pre-operative team meetings to confirm the details.

Arrangement of Living Kidney Donation and Transplantation

  • The urology department issues an admission sheet and arranges the dates for living kidney donation, transplantation and hospitalization.
