Prep before the Examination
- Pregnant or possibility of being pregnant cannot have this procedure. Please inform in advance.
- No special preparation needed for this examination. Fasting is not required.
- It takes two days to complete this procedure.
Examination Method
- This examination requires radioactive isotope intravenous injection to check lung perfusion conditions. Images are created in 10 minutes. The examination time is about 10 minutes.
- After the first batch of images is created, please confirm the appointment for the second examination before leaving the building.
- Lung vertilation scan is done on a different day. Lay flat and inhale radioactive isotope. The examination time is about 10 minutes. It might take longer for patients with insufficient lung functions.
- The examination is completed after the images are created twice.
Cautions
- If there is a possibility of being pregnant, do not undergo this procedure. Please inform your care provider in advance.
- Do not move during the procedure to enhance image quality.
- Please avoid contact with babies and pregnant women the day you receive the low dose radioactive isotope injection. No obvious side effects will occur when in touch with babies and pregnant women. Please do not worry.
