Prep before the Examination
- Pregnant or possibility of being pregnant cannot have this procedure. Please inform your care provider in advance.
- No special preparation is required. Fasting is not required.
- The images will be created on the day after the injection and the second day or the third after the injection.
Examination Method
- This procedure requires two injections to create images twice.
- The first dose is bone scan agent. The first scanning is done three hours after the injection. The examination time is about 15 minutes.
- Gallium-67 inflammatory scan agent will be injected after the first scanning.
- Please schedule your appointment for the second scanning before leaving the building.
- The second scanning is done two or three days after the second injection. The examination time is about 30 minutes.
- The procedure is completed after the second scanning.
Cautions
- If there is a possibility of being pregnant, do not undergo this procedure. Please inform your care provider in advance.
- Do not move during the procedure to enhance image quality.
- Please avoid contact with babies and pregnant women the day you receive the low dose radioactive isotope injection. No obvious side effects will occur when in touch with babies and pregnant women. Please do not worry.
