Medical Device: Aggregate
Description of the Medical Device
Aggregate is bone cement that contains growth factor, which includes barium (contrast agent) and has longer operating time than traditional bone cement. Moreover, the highest heating temperature of aggregate is lower than the traditional bone cement, which makes it safer and more controllable during the surgery. The growth factor (HA) is beneficial to reinforcing the vertebral sections after the surgery.
When to Use
The vertebral collapses due to osteoporosis or compression fracture caused by extremely strong external force, and pain caused by unstable vertebral structure.
Possible Side Effects
- The exterior hard bone is broken due to vertebral fracture, the bone cement leaks into the nerves and nerve roots through the vertebra during perfusion and lead to nerve compression, 0.16% of incidence rate.
- The bone cement leaks into venous blood vessels with the blood flow in the vertebra during perfusion and lead to the clog of venous blood vessels, 0.17% of incidence rate; cerebrospinal fluid leakage, 8.1% of incidence rate.
Post Surgery Care
- Change the dressings on the wound regularly and keep the wound dry.
- Consult with your physician or technicians about when to wear the assisting device.
