Screening for Four Major Cancers: Colorectal Cancer Screening Tests 四大癌篩檢:結直腸癌篩檢說明

Fecal occult blood screening for colorectal cancer is a method to measure occult blood reaction in feces. Occult blood refers to a very low amount of intestinal bleeding that is present in the stool and is usually not detectable by the naked eye. The fecal occult blood test may act as the first step in the prevention of colorectal cancer. As long as people take the feces-collecting stick back home, and then bring it to the hospital for testing.

Test requirements

  • Those eligible under the National Health Insurance (NHI) program: People aged between 50 and 75 can receive a fecal occult blood test (FOBT) for free every 2 years.
  • If you are eligible for screening, please bring your NHI card to the cancer screening station to pick up your feces-collecting stick for colorectal cancer screening.
  • For first-time patients, please fill out a first-time visit form and a consent form at the cashier and registration counter. It is suggested that you register half an hour before the examination time.
  • On-site registration:
  • Please take your NHI card to issue exam slip and pick up a feces-collecting stick at the "cancer screening station" counter on the first floor of the Lifu medical building or the first floor of the cancer center building.
  • If a Health Promotion Administration colorectal cancer screening slip has been issued at the clinic, please pick up a feces-collecting stick at the laboratory medicine department (critical care center building B1) or at the screening station.
  • After taking the specimen, please sent it to the counter in the laboratory medicine department, and
  1. present the excrement collector and
  2. complete the quantitative immunoassay fecal occult blood test form.
  • Screening time:
  • Monday-Friday morning at 08:30-12:00
  • Monday-Friday afternoon at 13:30-17:00
  • The screening results will be notified by post (within 1-2 weeks after the collection of fecal samples by the patient and delivery to the hospital). For information on cancer screening, please dial 04-22052121 ext. 14821 or 14823.
  • If the test results are abnormal, please register with the colorectal surgery or Gastroenterology for further colonoscopy and follow the general outpatient procedure for consultation and fees.
