Emergency department-precautions for patients with unexplained vomiting 急診—不明原因嘔吐病人之注意事項

  • Fasting for 6 to 8 hours first, and then deal with the disease factors that cause vomiting.
  • For infants or bedridden patients, please assist in turning their head to one side when vomiting. Keep their breathing smooth and maintain a side-lying position.
  • After vomiting, rinse your mouth with salt water and keep your mouth clean.
  • When vomiting stops and eating is acceptable, start with light mea, such as porridge, toast, and noodles.
  • Rest with half-sitting and lying position more, and pay attention to indoor air circulation.
  • Drink some sports drinks to supplement electrolytes. Babies and young children need to be diluted in half.
  • If you have excessive vomiting, poor breathing, inability to eat, severe abdominal pain, etc., you should be send to the doctor immediately without delay.
  • After understanding the cause of vomiting, follow-up treatment in the outpatient clinic is required for this disease factor
  • If you have severe diarrhea and cannot eat, or headaches that continue to worsen, or even further symptoms that make you suspicious, please return to the emergency department for further treatment.
