Emergency-Matters needing attention for hypertensive patients 急診—高血壓病人之注意事項

According to the regulations of the World Health Organization hypertension is defined as systolic blood pressure frequently higher than 140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure frequently higher than 90 mmHg. Once you suffer from hypertension, regular checkups and daily medication are needed to prevent complications such as stroke, cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure or kidney failure.

Main symptoms: dizziness, insomnia, headache, tinnitus, hard of hearing, neck and shoulder stiffness, etc. And the following points should be noted:

  • According to the doctor's instructions, take the medicine on time every day. Even if you don't feel uncomfortable, you can't stop the medicine without authorization to avoid unstable blood pressure control.
  • Measure blood pressure and heartbeat regularly, and record them. Also measured when discomfort occurs.
  • Maintain proper weight, prevent overweight that increase heart load.

Ideal weight (kg) = 22 × height2 ( m2 ) ± 10%

  • Maintaining a daily habit of exercising or walking is not only good for the body, but also eases the nerves.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Pay attention to your diet and avoid eating foods that are high in cholesterol and are too salty, such as pickled food, canned food, and animal offal.
  • Maintain smooth stool passage, prevent constipation, and eat more vegetables, fruits and edible seaweed.
  • Keep regular lifestyle and adequate rest, cultivate normal habits and maintain emotional stability. Especially not being angry or overly excited.
  • Try not to exercise half an hour before and after taking the medicine.
  • Avoid bathing or soaking in water that is too cold or hot.
