Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses special drugs to treat cancers or control the growth of cancerous cells.

Purposes

  • Effect a cure.
  • Prevent metastatic spread.
  • Relieve illness, pain and other discomforts.

Possible symptoms of discomfort caused by chemotherapy

  • Anemia, leukopenia and bleeding tendency.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and loss of appetite.
  • Oral mucosa inflammation, fever and infection.
  • Hair loss.
  • Numbness in hands and feet, hearing loss, skin color changes.
  • Local tissue necrosis and phlebitis caused by injections.
  • Long-term use may cause functional disorders in various organs, such as the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys.

The occurrence of these symptoms often varies from one person to another according to individual constitution and drug types. With correct understanding and preparation beforehand, patients can alleviate discomfort.

Regular outpatient follow-up

  • The invasion of abnormal cells is unknown and rapid. In order to improve the cure rate and prevent recurrence, regular examination and treatment should be received.
